PELICAN STATE WOODWORKS
Furniture Made For More Than A Room
Designed around your space. Handcrafted from exceptional materials.
Built to become part of your story.
WHY CUSTOM?
Made for Your Space. Made to Stay.
Mass-produced furniture is designed to work in as many homes as possible. Custom furniture is designed to work in yours.
From the dimensions and proportions to the wood species, finish and smallest details, every decision is made specifically for your space. The result isn't simply furniture that fits—it's a piece that feels like it belongs there.
Some furniture fills a room. The right piece becomes part of it.
WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT
Built Differently. By Design.
01.
DESINGED AROUND YOU
We don't start with a catalog or a predetermined design. We start with your space, your needs and your vision, then develop a piece specifically around them.
02.
MATERIALS WITH CHARACTER
From distinctive hardwoods to salvaged timbers, we select materials for their grain, movement and natural character—then design in a way that allows the wood to remain part of the story.
03.
BUILT BY HAND
Every piece is individually handcrafted in our Louisiana woodshop. From material selection and grain placement to finishing and final details, the process stays personal from beginning to end.
MATERIALS MATTER
We Don't Hide the Character.
We Build Around It.
Exceptional furniture begins with exceptional materials.
We work with distinctive hardwoods and salvaged timbers selected for their grain, movement, texture and history. Natural variations aren't something we try to manufacture out of the piece—they're part of what makes it one of a kind.
No two slabs are identical.
No two slabs should be either.
Bring inspiration images; they're genuinely useful. They communicate proportion, finish preference, edge style, the general weight, and the feeling you're after. What they can't do is serve as a blueprint.
The slab in that photo was milled from a specific tree, in a specific year, with a grain pattern that simply doesn't exist in duplicate. The dimensions were shaped by a room you don't have. When we work through inspiration images with a client, we're looking for the underlying idea: the weight of the piece, the edge treatment, the relationship between top and base. That's what we build from.
Often, the best version of an idea is not the most literal one.
BUILT BEYOND TODAY
Furniture Worth Passing Down.
Custom furniture is an investment, and we believe it should be built like one.
Our goal isn't to create something you'll replace when the next trend arrives. We create substantial, thoughtfully constructed pieces intended to age beautifully, collect memories and become part of your family's story.
We don't build trends.
We build heirlooms.

WHY INVEST IN CUSTOM?
Because the Right Piece Changes More Than a Room.
A dining table becomes the place where holidays are celebrated and stories are told. A conference table becomes part of where a business grows. A console can be the first thing that welcomes you home.
Custom furniture gives those pieces something mass-produced furniture can't—a connection to your space, your story and the way you live.
Made for your space.
Built for your life.
Created to outlast both.
